He is survived by his mother, Judith Shultz of Altoona, father, Allen Shultz of Bondurant, sister, Chrystal (Don) Mundy of Lacona, brother, Danny Edwards of Norwalk, sister, Mary Shrader of Altoona, grandmothers, Ruth Hines of Pleasant Hill and Mary Shultz of Missouri, his significant other Stephanie (Avery and Lucy) Book of Chariton, nephews, Nathan and Hunter Mundy, Connor Edwards, Zack Shrader, other special family members, Noah Myers, Dace Dyer, Dane Dyer. Gary is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Larry Hines and Arza Shultz, step-father, Dan Smith. Gary was loved by so many, he will be so greatly missed by everyone that knew him. He loved nature and being in the outdoors. To relax a little, Gary enjoyed to go fishing. LACONA, Iowa (AP) - Investigators say a fire that destroyed a building housing City Hall and the fire department in the south-central Iowa town of Lacona is arson. Also he loved to share his knowledge with his nephews or to those who wanted to learn about mechanics. He enjoyed riding them to make sure they were in his standard of working order. Gary was a hard worker, he loved working on 4-wheelers, dirt bikes, lawn mowers, cars and mostly anything with wheels and a motor. That was part of his warming personality that everyone loved. Gary was a jokester with a little bit of sarcasm. All his friends knew if you were his friend, you were his family. He had a big heart for his community, family and friends. If anyone needed help, he would be the first person to be there. Anyone that knew Gary knows how generous, kind-hearted, all around a great guy. Gary loved to help people when he could so he became a firefighter for the Lucas Fire Department in Lucas, Iowa. Gary worked as the head mechanic for the fork lifts at Hy-Vee. He was raised in Chariton, Iowa by Judith and Allen Shultz. Hines was born Octoto Judith Shultz in Greenville, TX. Preceding her in death was her husband, Doyle in 1993 infant son, Doyle Dwight Neer parents: Stanley and Gladys Daugherty and siblings: Glenn Daugherty, Beatrice Fogle, and Bill Daugherty.Gary E. She will be greatly missed by her children: Karma (Larry) Riggan and Merlin (Dixie) Neer grandchildren: Kelly (Sherri) Riggan, Brett (Marah) Neer, Tiffany (Garrett) Chumbley, and Tyler (Kendra) Neer great grandchildren: Kortney (AJ), Keegan, Bethany, Lindy, Seth, Luke, Kamryn, Lauren, and Tyson a brother, Darrell Daugherty and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Marion County officials and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation brought Jason in for. Helen passed away at her home on June 17, 2021. Helen enjoyed the longtime traditions of her favorite holiday, Halloween. She very much loved her grandkids and great grandkids, attending many of their events throughout the years. Sunday lunches with her family were a favorite for Helen. After she started working and they were planning a vacation, she joked with Doyle that she could loan him some money for the trip. She claimed to be bashful, but she was usually the first to entertain others or talk to others. She had an open-door policy, always having food for visitors, and making everyone feel welcome. She had a love for baking pies for her family and others. Helen worked up until her 80th birthday making senior meals for the residents of Lacona. To this union, they were blessed with two children: Karma and Merlin. They moved to Pensacola while Doyle was in the Navy. In November 1946, Helen married Doyle Neer, at the age of 16. She attended country schools in Norwood, Derby, Lacona and Indianola areas. The family moved around this area quite a bit when she was younger. Helen Ethel Daugherty was born on October 1, 1930, to Stanley and Gladys Daugherty at her home near Norwood, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the Lacona Fire Department or Ellendale Church of the Nazarene in Ellendale, North Dakota. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Lacona. Lacona - Funeral services for Helen Neer, 90, of Lacona were held Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at 10:00 a.m.
